We publish a free, modern browser version of Klondike Solitaire — the classic single-deck patience game — with Turn 1 and Turn 3 draw, unlimited undo, hints, and a layout that works on any screen.

Our craft

One deck. Total order.

What we make

A free Klondike that stays in the browser

klondikesolitaire.app is the site behind our version of Klondike Solitaire. The product is a single-player card game: deal seven columns, turn the stock, build the tableau down in alternating colours, and move all 52 cards to four foundation piles built by suit from Ace to King.

We are not an app-store publisher and there is nothing to download. The game is the website. That keeps load times short, works on phones and desktops alike, and avoids an account wall. Best times, scores, move counts, and streaks live in local browser storage on your device.

If you are comparing this to another solitaire site, this page only speaks for klondikesolitaire.app. The rules, scoring, and draw modes described in our how-to-play guide and FAQ match this exact build.

Our story

From the Yukon to your browser tab

Klondike has one of the longest histories of any game people still play daily. We treat that as a responsibility to get the rules exactly right and the friction as close to zero as we can.

  1. 01

    Patience, then Klondike

Single-player "patience" card games are documented in Europe from the late 1700s, with the first dedicated collections published in the 1800s. The particular layout we now call Klondike — seven columns, four foundations, a stock and a waste — took its name from the Klondike Gold Rush of the late 1890s in Canada’s Yukon, where prospectors are said to have filled long idle stretches with it.

  2. 02

    The Windows era

Klondike reached hundreds of millions of people in 1990, when Microsoft bundled a version with Windows 3.0 — officially to teach nervous new users how to drag and drop with a mouse. For a generation, "solitaire" simply meant this game, with its green background and cascading win animation.

  3. 03

    This build

klondikesolitaire.app is an independent, modern implementation of that same ruleset. The rules are unchanged; what is new is a rendering that is smooth on a phone, a layout that keeps all eleven piles on one screen, synthesized sound with a real mute, and quality-of-life tools — hints, auto-complete, unlimited undo — that the 1990 version never had.

What we stand for

Principles behind every deal

Instant to start

Open the page and a game is already dealt. No account wall, no download, no splash video — the cards are on the table before you finish reading this sentence.

Honest defaults

Turn 1 or Turn 3, unlimited stock passes, unlimited undo. The standard desktop scoring. Nothing is gated behind a "pro" toggle and nothing nags you to install an app.

Yours to keep

Best time, best score, fewest moves, and win streak per draw mode live on your device. We do not hold your record hostage behind a login, because there is no login.

Free, for real

The whole game is free forever. No energy meters, no interstitial video ads between deals, no surprise paywall on the auto-complete button.

Who it is for

Players who want a clean game of patience

klondikesolitaire.app is a family-friendly, single-player game with no chat and no store. A poor fit if you want multiplayer or live events; a good fit if you want the real game of Klondike, exactly as you remember it, on whatever screen is nearby.

  • Short sessions

A deal takes two to ten minutes. Klondike is built for a phone on the couch or a browser tab between tasks, not a long campaign.

  • Patience, not reflexes

There is no clock forcing a move and nothing to react to. The entire challenge is the order you choose to do things in.

  • Play without an account

Your record stays on the device you played on. That is a deliberate trade: instant play and real privacy, with no cloud restore.

Why this site

How klondikesolitaire.app is different

Klondike has thousands of implementations online. This one exists to ship a single honest, fast version — correct rules, both draw modes, and no clutter.

  • Both draw modes, done right

Turn 1 and Turn 3 are both first-class, each with its own saved stats, and both allow unlimited passes through the stock so a game ends only when you are genuinely out of moves.

  • Tools that respect your time

Unlimited undo, a hint that actually points at a useful move, and auto-complete so a solved board does not cost you 40 forced clicks.

  • No clutter

No auto-playing video, no fake "download our app" banners, no dark patterns around the settings. The how-to-play guide and FAQ describe this exact engine, not a generic write-up.

How we build

Designed for the browser you already have

The game runs entirely on the web: fast loads, drag / tap / keyboard controls, and progress that stays local unless you clear your browser data. We use lightweight analytics to see what helps players — never to gate the game behind a profile. The engine on the home page is the one described on our rules pages, so search results and the live game never drift apart.

  • Play anywhere

Phone, tablet, and desktop share one board. Drag with a mouse, tap on a touchscreen, or use the keyboard shortcuts for the stock, undo, hint, and auto-complete.

  • Progress on your device

Best time, best score, fewest moves, and streak per draw mode are stored locally. You own the continuity of your record without signing up.

  • Quiet improvement

We watch aggregate usage through Google Analytics to improve pacing and polish. Details are in our Privacy Policy — never as a sales pitch.
